
Saturday Games
After two days of play, Nova Scotia teams have seen lots of ice time
at the Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette tournament.
The Dartmouth U19 team's first game
against Gloucester-1 was a win, with a final score of 6-2. Goal scorers for Dartmouth
were Jacy Conrad (2), Rebecca Godin (2), Johanna Murray, and Janel Anthony.
The
team's second game was also a win, against Gloucester-3 - final score 5-2, with Dartmouth
goals from Jacy Conrad, Rebecca Godin, Helen Hammond, Katie Craine and Sarah Verrall.
A third win (4-1) against Gloucester-2 (Dartmouth goal scorers Janel Anthony (2),
Rebecca Godin, and Helen Hammond) sends Dartmouth to the division finals on Sunday
morning. Dartmouth Board member, Chris Murray said the team's success was as a result
of stellar team play and in the end came down to goaltending with an outstanding
performance from Dartmouth goalie, Kayla Upson.
Despite solid play b Nova Scotia's U16 A team, both of their first games were losses: 11-2 against St. Albert, Alberta (Nova Scotia goals from Sarah Boudreau and Katie Gordon, assists from Taylor Martin and Sara Sullivan respectively) and 4-0 against Timmins, Ontario.
As of Saturday midday, the Nova Scotia U16 AA team had played and lost 3 games: 5-0 against Calgary, 7-5 against Gatineau (Nova Scotia goal scorers Taylor Dempsey (3), Emily Henneberry, and Natalie Westhaver), and 9-4 against "Zone 5" Alberta (Nova Scotia goal scorers Emily Henneberry, Kirsti Mason, India Cyr, and Emily Ferguson). Despite a showing of 3 losses, Nova Scotia has brought a competitive game against its opponents and cannot be counted out of the tournament yet.
Dartmouth Under 19 wins GOLD in Gloucester!!
The Dartmouth U19 team has won a Gold
Medal in the Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Tournament this weekend! They beat Ayr,
Ontario, in the Gold Medal Game, 4-0 (Dartmouth goal scorers Helen Hammond (2), Katie
Craine, Rebecca Godin; shut-out Kayla Upson). Once again, strong team play won the
game.
This same group of girls won a Gold Medal in 2008 and a Silver Medal in 2009 in the Junior Division, at the same tournament.
